The Pixel is my Pallet...?
--
~
What's new? Welp, my bees are going by the wayside for outdoor use (and for some studio use too). I used a Hensel Porty 1200 for this set with, of all things, just their plain 7" grid spot reflector. It's hard to explain but I'm noticing that it's a lot more consistent than my bees + vagabond were on-location. That, and I've got 4X the power now.

The Pixel is my Pallet...?
Did I win the lottery? Umm.... not exactly, but I didn't charge it either. I was in a position where I could buy two Porty 1200's (one of them being an older model, the other the latest being the Premium 1200AS w/wireless remote control). Either pack is like going from a Yugo to the Space Shuttle.
I don't mind doing things the strobist way, but I find it limiting, and it gets expensive. Ironically, if you were to buy several speedlites and make a tree for it so that combined you boost the overall power output, it'll cost you about the same as a Porty Premium 1200/AS (about US$3,0000). You'll also be spending a ton of money buying batteries for the things too. With the Porty, the battery will last all day, and you get two of them when you buy the kit. It's safe for airline travel too (sealed batteries).
